Build a Houseboat and Float down the Missouri
Vision:
Embark on a Tom Sawyer-inspired adventure by building a raft and floating down the Missouri River. In under two weeks we plan to construct a two story (plus lookout tower) raft that combines adventure with the comfort of home. We will use 50 drum barrels and 2x6 lumber for the frame. On top of this, we will construct two stories as well as a crows nest. The lower deck will serve as the central hub, designed with ample storage for gear and provisions. It’s a spacious, sturdy foundation where you can relax, share meals, or plan the next phase of our journey.
Proposed Itinerary:
Gather materials, including barrels, wood, and other supplies necessary for constructing a two-story raft. (Days 1-4)
Build base of Raft Construction and secure barrels under 2x6 planks and testing for structural integrity. (Days 4-7)
Continue constructing, building the second story, and securing all raft elements. (Days 7-10)
Finalize construction + Gathering Supplies, including testing for stability and making necessary adjustments. (Days 11-13)
Pack gear, food, and safety equipment onto the completed raft, ensuring everything is properly secured. Check weather conditions and make final adjustments to the raft as needed. (Day 14)
Launch and Begin Float for the next 200 miles! (Day 15)
